Car Rentals
Driving regulations: Driving is on the left hand side of the road in St Lucia. A local driving permit or International Driving Licence is required if you wish to drive on the island. A local permit costs EC$54 and can be obtained from the car hire company when you hire the car, or at airport Immigration offices and local Police stations. It lasts for three months. Drivers must be over 25 years of age and less than 65.
There are plenty of car hire companies on island offering a wide range of saloon and 4x4's. Note that most are automatic transmission. See list below. Rates vary from around US$45-60 per day according to vehicle and time of year.
The main roads are all in good condition but some roads inland and off the beaten track may require four wheel drive. Driving offers spectacular views especially near the Pitons and Soufriere.

Castries - Rodney Bay 30 minutes, Vieux Fort - Soufriere 50 minutes
Castries - Soufriere 1 hour
